Joseph Martins

Joseph Martins
Managing Director

Joe brings more than 15 years of engineering, product management, business analytics, and customer support experience to Data Mobility Group. He is responsible for managing the firm's business, including client relationships, new business development efforts, and the overall tone and direction of the company.

Since joining Data Mobility Group as a partner in 2002, Joe has used his storage and information management expertise to help clients understand and address the challenges and opportunities of effective storage and information management. He also has in-depth skills in 3-D modeling, animation, electronic publishing, graphics editing, video composition, Web design, Web application development, and several programming languages.

Joe began his career as a systems software engineer at Lockheed Martin. He went on to co-develop General Dynamics' first e-learning system for military and commercial training and was a key contributor to the success of three enterprise content/information management start-ups in the defense, healthcare, and publishing industries. Prior to joining Data Mobility Group, Joe was business development director for the research firm Illuminata.

Joe studied industrial engineering and operations research, economics, and human factors engineering at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. He has been a member of SNIA and ARMA International and a four time-judge of the SIIA CODiE Awards for Best Storage Solution and Best Document Management Solution.

Walter Purvis

Walter Purvis
Director of Software Development & Senior Analyst

Walt leads DMG's custom software practice, helping customers develop bespoke applications that automate workflows and integrate existing information management and storage systems. Prior to joining Data Mobility Group, he was the director of engineering at OpenPages, technical product manager for content management technologies at Quark, technology director for the content management division of the Banta Corporation, and a programmer/analyst for several other companies.

Walt's areas of focus as a research analyst include information lifecycle management, active archiving, object storage, and tiered storage systems.

Walt earned a B.A. in sociology from Eastern College in St. Davids, Pennsylvania.

John Rudolf

In the course of more than 20 years, John has made important sales and marketing contributions to IBM, Lotus, McAfee, FrontRange, Cisco, Software Spectrum (now Insight), CompuCom Systems, ASAP Software, WebEx, and Compaq, frequently working with their largest clients, such as Microsoft, Exxon, and others in the software, energy, telecommunications, banking, and other industries.

John began his career in publishing, as a successful acquisition editor with Prentice Hall, Scott-Foresman, and DC Heath, where he developed several successful series in math and computer science. After 10 years, he moved into his first software start-up, StatPro, launching the first PC-based statistical analysis package.

John then joined Lotus, where he had the opportunity to build three successful sales organizations—the company's first telemarketing division (featured in Telemarketing Magazine), its largest direct sales region (southwest), and its national inside sales division (channel, educational, and direct sales surpassing $200 million).

After 10 years at Lotus, John expanded his management experience with several software start-ups (funded by IBM, Lotus, and Cisco), where he built the sales and marketing organizations, and launched new technologies in the building industry (IBM Home Director), the telecommunications convergence industry (Interwise and Intranets.com), the enterprise security industry (McAfee), and the IT services management industry (FrontRange Solutions). At McAfee and FrontRange, he built those firms' first channel organizations.

John has become a significant influence in the software industry, focusing on the strategic development of sales and marketing organizations for leading companies both large and small, ranging from the IdeaLab (with Bill Gross) to a start-up division of IBM (Home Director). John brings to Data Mobility Group his passions for team building, executive coaching, market penetration, strategic business partnerships, and change management.

Angela M. French

Angie focuses on the financial and operational impact which information management and storage issues such as RIM, compliance, availability, retention, and data protection have on the healthcare industry and on the quality of patient care.

As a former engineer and registered nurse, Angie brings extensive experience in both software engineering and healthcare services to Data Mobility Group. She held positions at General Dynamics and TechSight, where she developed content management, computer-assisted decision support, and fleet ballistic-missile operating-environment solutions. Angie spent more than eight years with healthcare providers such as Berkshire Medical Center, WillowWood Rehabilitation, and Gambro Healthcare, where she held positions as a registered nurse, program manager, case manager, health coach, and staff nurse.

Angie holds a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and an associate degree in nursing from Berkshire Community College. She is experienced in several clinical disciplines, including hemodialysis, geriatrics, medical surgical, orthopedics, telemetry, respiratory care, patient recovery planning, managed care coordination, and pre-screening, as well as in marketing support. Her technical expertise includes user-interface development, workflow and cost analyses, programming (in several languages), 3-D modeling, content management (Documentum), and Six Sigma system architecture and design.

John Attora brings more than 20 years of hands-on IT management and implementation expertise to Data Mobility Group. John's background includes process re-engineering, global technology rollouts, IT governance, and large-scale project management spanning three continents. In previous roles, he served as the North and South American IT director for a multibillion dollar European lock manufacturer and distributor. John also served as VP of worldwide IT for a division of one of the world's largest packaged-food solutions providers.

Today, John calls on his field operations experience with his own company, Strategic Knowledge Group, to help Data Mobility Group clients understand the challenges, opportunities, and best practices of the SMB market, specializing in the critical needs of legal, manufacturing, and finance customers.

John followed his education at Devry with several certifications, including Microsoft, Novell, and Cisco.

J. Steven Sprenger is the president and founder of Strategic Knowledge Sciences (SKS), a team of veteran sales and marketing advisors who apply technology and new sales sciences to help clients accelerate profitable top-line growth. SKS is a Data Mobility Group partner and Steven brings us more than 30 years of experience in the healthcare informatics, CRM, enterprise content, and knowledge management markets. He has excelled in a variety of sales, marketing, and business development roles in companies including Xerox, Unisys, Hewlett-Packard, Pivotal, and OpenPages.

Steven studied political science, psychology, and marketing at the University of Texas and completed numerous sales training courses in complex business-to-business sales.

A career spanning more than 25 years in information technology, marketing, and sales underlies Suzanne Carleson's contribution to Data Mobility Group's advisory team. Her background includes mainframe and mid-range systems support, operations programming, facility and capacity planning, system evaluation, and the selection, education and training of employees. She also has extensive expertise in healthcare modernization and HIPAA, including experience managing information systems for a children's hospital and a county government.

Suzanne balances her high-tech know-how with a long history of business savvy. She served as a product marketing manager and sales executive in the healthcare industry, where she was responsible for a broad range of systems (mostly IBM) and software products, including patient accounting, clinical and ancillary systems; scheduling; integrated financial, clinical, and executive decision support/managed care systems; electronic health records; document imaging systems; and lab and PACS/radiology systems. As a systems analyst, she managed projects in healthcare, government, banking, trucking, manufacturing, and distribution.

Suzanne's activities for DMG blend coverage of storage and server systems with coverage of the various software solutions (such as data protection, provisioning, resource management, compliance, and archiving) that operate and manage those systems. Suzanne has an associate degree from the Arkansas College of Technology, Little Rock, and an IBM Professional Salesmanship Certificate.

Loren Rudolf

Prior to joining Data Mobility Group, Loren had more than 20 years experience in providing hospitals and large clinics consulting services in all matters relating to information technology, finance and energy. Loren has saved his clients millions of dollars and has provided consulting services to institutions such as Stanford University Medical Center, Georgetown University Medical Center and Princeton University Medical Center.

Prior to opening his consulting firm, Loren was the CIO for The University of South Carolina School of Medicine where he successfully designed and implemented a 24 month plan to put state of the art IT assets in the hands of the faculty, staff and students of the SOM. During his tenure at the SOM Loren also served as principal consultant and analyst for two United States Presidential committees, one for the reorganization of IT in the Federal Government.

Loren's specific areas of interest are:

  • Outsourcing and Facilities Management- how to get in, how to survive, how to get out.
  • CIS and HIS system selection including price and contract negotiations, implementation, testing and training.
  • Finance - additional funding sources with lower rates, less fees and better terms.
  • Knowledge transfer - how to help your CIO become a better business man, how to turn your IT Department into a service organization, more prudent methods of dealing with vendors and manufactures, how not to buy more than is needed, lease, finance or purchase high tech assets through out the institute, better methods of interfacing and inter acting with your clinical personnel.

Loren is a graduate of the University of South Carolina and holds degrees in math and computer engineering. He is also Professor Emeritus of the SOM.

  • ERP Systems - Financial management, manufacturing, logistics, capacity planning, product configuration and design.

Alex is certified as a project management professional (PMP) with the Project Management Institute (PMI). He attended Concordia University in Montreal, Quebec (Canada) and received his bachelor of commerce degree in the area of finance and administration. Subsequently, he attended the CDI Institute in Montreal and received a certificate of computer programming and systems analysis. Alex is a certified member of the Canadian Association Production Inventory Control Society (CAPICS).

Alex has written numerous articles in the areas of project management and SCM systems for TEC, PM Hut, Canadian Logistics, and DC Velocity.
